Urdaneta City University is expanding its research development initiatives through "Cultivating Research Excellence:
Capacity-Building, Collaboration, Publication, and Mentorship," a three-day engagement with Assoc. Prof. Barry Bai, DBIT, MA, PhD, of the Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), held from September 23 to 25, 2026.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the research competencies of faculty members and graduate students through focused discussions on research management, research design, academic writing, collaboration, and scholarly publication.
Bai brings extensive international experience in English Language Teaching, academic writing, research, and curriculum development, having taught at leading institutions in Singapore and Hong Kong and served as a frequent keynote and plenary speaker at international ELT conferences.
Day 1: Strengthening Research Management
The three-day engagement opened on September 23 at the University Chaplain with a Research Management Discussion, bringing together college research coordinators, the Center for Research and Development, and the Research Ethics Committee.
The focus group discussion centered on institutional research management, providing participants with an avenue to examine existing practices, exchange perspectives, and identify areas where research support and coordination may be further strengthened.
The opening session established the groundwork for the succeeding discussions, particularly on developing a more coordinated approach to research planning, implementation, and scholarly output.#
