Urdaneta City University sealed an agreement with the Municipalities of San Nicolas and Tayug to advance educational opportunities and community development through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing on September 15, 2026 held at the UCU Conference Room.
Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented UCU during the signing, formalizing the University’s role in the collaborative initiative with the two municipalities.
The partnership follows a benchmarking visit held on July 17, 2026, where Dr. Alicia L. Primicias-Enriquez, Mayor of San Nicolas, Pangasinan, and Hon. Lorna L. Primicias-Tacdol, Vice Mayor of Tayug, Pangasinan, shared their vision of establishing community colleges to provide accessible and quality higher education for their constituents.
They conveyed their intention to work with UCU toward this vision, citing the University’s strong reputation, community-centered approach, commitment to academic excellence, and experience in institutional mentorship.
The MOA provides a framework in pursuing educational initiatives responsive to the needs of San Nicolas and Tayug, particularly in expanding opportunities for their respective constituents.
The initiative reflects UCU’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through partnerships with local government units, advancing community development and supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
